Cannabis Supper Clubs: The Latest Trend Across the Country

This really should be a question. That is, are cannabis supper clubs the latest trend across the country. I am cautious to confirm it as a trend because the spread of legal recreational use intrigues investors and entrepreneurs. But, the restaurant business is very tough to start and sustain. Stoners have been mixing weed and social fun. The stigma once forced them into smoking circles around campfires on hikes or camping trips. People would gather as friends and users by beach bonfires or on boat trips to keep the fun and fumes away from suspicious authorities. Europe pioneered smoke clubs and coffee shops where customers can use. Amsterdam’s coffee shops, for example, opened to meet the laws on “soft” drug use in public. They insist you be 18 or 21 with a passport or acceptable ID. Alcoh...

Congress Just Legalized Hemp. That’s Huge for the CBD Industry.

CBD, the non-psychoactive cannabinoid of marijuana, has become a popular ingredient lately. Proponents claim it can soothe anxiety, stress, pain, and insomnia without getting consumers high, and you can now find it in everything from moisturizers, lattes, and vitamins to cookies, gummies, teas, beer, ice cream, massage oils, and dog treats. And CBD just got a big boost thanks to US lawmakers. On Wednesday, Congress voted to pass the US Farm Bill, legalizing hemp, a species of cannabis that CBD can be extracted from but that isn’t psychoactive. Historically, hemp has been illegal to sell or grow in the US, although it’s legal to buy from international sources. Hemp has commonly been used as a material for carpets and sweaters — it’s the main material of Baja hoodies, those textured pullover...

Hemp: Today and Yesterday

Along the course of recent U.S. history, hemp has been plagued with a bad name, but its reputation and the stigma surrounding it have been more closely related to misnomers, economic and political events than its chemical composition or effects on the human body. For the sake of this article, we will set aside any arguments relating to marijuana itself – whether merited or not – as hemp is an entirely separate matter. So, what is hemp? The common names hemp and marijuana – or less commonly, “marihuana “- have been applied loosely to [the Cannabis sativa plant species] [1], although historically hemp has been used primarily for the fiber cultigen and its fiber preparations, and marijuana for the ...

Rhode Island Voters Will Get to Tell Lawmakers their Opinion on Legalization

Rhode Island Voters Will Get to Tell Lawmakers their Opinion on Legalization     Voters in Rhode Island may just get the opportunity to tell lawmakers their opinion on legalization in the next election. A new bill filed in the state’s House of Representative earlier in March would put a non-binding ballot measure on the ballot asking voters whether they support legalization of cannabis or not. Filed by Representative Scott Slater (D), the referendum would be meant only to poll the states voters and see what their thoughts on the subject are. However, if a landslide majority were to answer “yes” to this ballot question then lawmakers would have little choice at that point other than to take a serious look at legalizing cannabis in 2019. While many states are able to petition for b...

CBD Loving Seniors Say Jeff Sessions is ‘Behind the Times’

CBD Loving Seniors Say Jeff Sessions is ‘Behind the Times’   Since the beginning of the year there has been some uncertainty throughout the nation as to what is going to happen between the state and federal governments when it comes to medical marijuana. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who was appointed as a part of the Trump Administration and has been a very vocal cannabis prohibitionist since before being confirmed as Attorney General, finally made his first move towards attempting to reverse the progress made by individual states with the rescinding of the Cole Memo back in January. Needless to say, not many people were happy with this move – with activists, advocates, industry workers and entrepreneurs, and even congressman calling him out on his biggest mistake so far.
